Reselling Unsold Discount Cards

If you bulk-ordered your discount cards and were not able to sell them all, here are some ideas that may help you sell your unsold discount cards so that you can reach your sales goal:

Start by selling the unsold cards at full retail:

  • Offer special incentives to your most capable and responsible students who help ‘sell off’ these cards (Offer them $1.00 out of the profit for each card sold)
  • Get other staff or organizations involved in selling the cards

Then sell the cards at a discount:

  • Buy 2 cards at their normal price and receive a 3rd card for free…
  • Buy 1 card for $10.00 and 2 cards for $18.00…
  • Offer a free card to every student who sells and brings back the money for 5 or more cards
  • Advertise that you are having a ‘Discount Card Clearance Sale’
  • Each discount card has its own unique number on the bottom right-hand side of the card. Have a grand prize drawing and the person who happens to buy the card with the number that is drawn wins the grand prize (This can be promoted at the beginning of the fundraiser to help increase sales as well)
  • Provide the cards to another organization at the school by offering them a portion of the profit for every card that they sell
  • Sell the cards at wholesale (This option should be a last resort because you will not make any profit on these cards)

Sell in bulk to employers to use as morale boosters or incentives for their employees
If people don’t buy right away, encourage them to ‘Test Drive’ the card for 1 week. Obtain each of their names and their contact information and tell them you will follow up one week later. If they like the card have them purchase it, if not, take it back with no obligations (attempt to do this with groups of people at a time if possible)
